In order to get what you want from a job you need to acknowledge that your skills and qualifications are not enough to attract the attention of the employer. In most of the cases the reference letter is what you need in order to get a boost. Here are some advice for you to take into account when drafting a reference letter.

• Make sure that you mention the type of relationship that you had or have with the job seeker. Include also how you met the job seeker and how long have you met him or her.
• Talk about your enthusiasm in writing this reference letter and then mention the reason for which you would like to talk about and support the job seeker.
• Objective statements are as important as subjective one in the case of a reference letter; hence you need to give examples of personal observations and stories which are connected with the person. Try to be honest, positive and at the same time personal.
• Do not forget to mention your qualifications early in the letter. Explain what the qualifications that make you appropriate for writing this reference letter are.
• Mention why you think that that person is qualified for the position. Try to focus on the contributions that he or she might bring to the company by relating to his former work places and job experience.
• In the reference letter try to emphasize traits such as being willing to do anything necessary to accomplish his or her job, being positive, reliable, having great behavior. I order to state these aspects use about two or three qualities and behaviors. Try not to overdue it because you will look insincere.
• Do not forget to give your contact details in order for the employer to be able to contact you as a follow up.
• Try to be as clear and concrete as possible. Making the reference letter too long and exaggerating some of the person’s traits might make the employer not trust your references.
• Last but not least mention the fact that you are looking forward to working again with the job seeker.
